Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has to submit a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Aluva 190 MLD WTP Supply and Distribution Network Project by mid 2027.
The scope of work includes augmentation of water supply and distribution pipelines, construction of storage tanks and other associated infrastructure required to convey the additional treated water from the proposed 190 MLD Aluva WTP to Kochi and surrounding areas. The project will strengthen the water supply network in Kalamassery, Thrikkakara, Varappuzha, Eloor and Kadavanthra.
The project proposes to increase water supply to Kalamassery from 21 MLD to 40 MLD at an estimated cost of Rs 240 million, while supply to Thrikkakara will be enhanced from 24 MLD to 48 MLD at an estimated cost of Rs 300 million. Augmentation of supply lines and storage facilities in Varappuzha and Eloor will require about Rs 250 million. In addition, an extra 18 MLD of water supply is planned for the Kadavanthra zone, along with construction of a new 18 million litre storage tank. The complementary water supply infrastructure is proposed to be completed alongside the commissioning of the 190 MLD Aluva Water Treatment Plant, which is expected to take about three years to complete.
