The construction work on augmentation of Nhava Sheva Water Supply Scheme (WSSS) Stage III is likely to be completed by February 2026.
As of July 2025, 67 per cent work has been completed under the project. Besides, 52 per cent of 168 mld WTP work, 100 per cent of raw water pipeline pair laying work over 5.6 km, 50 per cnet of 12 mld master balancing reservior, 52 per cent of paired water pipeline laying work between Kalamboli and Rohinjan (MMRDA) site has been completed.
The project involves augmentation of existing water supply scheme by replacing old and damaged pipeline to supply about 228 million litres per day (mld) pure and potable water to the residents coming under the areas of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (40 mld), City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO)(69 mld), Panvel Municipal Corporation (100 mld), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA (19 mld) at an estimated cost of Rs 3,500 million.
The project is being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
