The joint venture (JV) of Adani Water Limited and Adani Power Limited has emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder for construction of a 60 million litres per day (mld) desalination plant at Mullakadu Village in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The firm quoted an amount of Rs 9,959.33 million. Besides, JV of JWIL Infra Limited, IDE Technologies Private Limited and Vishnusurya Projects and Infra Limited and JV of Ramky Infrastructures Limited and VA Tech Wabag Limited have emerged has L2 and L3 bidders by quoting amounts of Rs 10,807.79 million and Rs 11,345.48 million respectively. Bids for the same were invited by the State Industries Promotion Corporation Of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT) in June 2024.
The scope of work includes construction of an intake and outfall system including onshore pump house, 60 mld sea water desalination plant including civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works, all chemical dosing arrangements, 10 million litres storage reservoir and conveyance main for conveyance of product water to the industries including industries in SIPCOT Industrial Park including 6 months trial and run and 15 years of Operation and Maintenance (O&M).
The work is likely to be completed in 30 months on Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) basis.
