The Government of Uttar Pradesh, Construction and Design Service (C&DS) is planning to develop stormwater drainage (SWD) network and flood control infrastructure in 10 cities of Uttar Pradesh.

These include Lucknow, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Jhansi, Meerut, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Firozabad and Saharanpur.

The scope of  work includes construction of a 7.5 km long SWD network to connect Amabakhar drain near the underpass with the Yamuna in Mathura at an estimated cost of Rs 900 million. In Lucknow, SWD network will be constructed between Pakripul and Ithuriya Puliya for the remodelling of Qila Mohammadi Nulla, spanning 10.5 km through which monsoon runoff water will be discharged into the Sai River for Rs 2,160 million. Along with that, a SWD drain will be developed between BSNV Inter College near the Charbagh Station Road and Lal Bharti Inter College in Alambagh at Rs 2,160 million.

The total estimated cost for implementation of the project in 10 cities is Rs 11,310 million.
