he New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has prepared a long-term drainage system plan for the city to avoid waterlogging and flooding during monsoons.
Under the plan, various vulnerable areas for waterlogging including Purana Quila Road, Zakir Hussain Marg, Golf Links, Bharti Nagar, Lodhi Estate, AIIMS under bridge area, Panchkuian Road, and Connaught Place middle circle, among others have been identified. The scope of work includes desilting, rehabilitation and strengthening work in the drainage sub-system, two brick barrels each at an cost of Rs 5,000 million and setting up of six control rooms and other related infrastructure.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 16,000 million.
