The executive committee of the National Mission of Clean Ganga has accorded administrative approval and expenditure sanction for detailed project report of the North Barrackpore project in its meeting held on October 28, 2021.
The project involves providing interception and diversion network for existing drains falling into river Ganges including sewage treatment plant (STP) at North Barrackpore municipality in West Bengal under the Namami Gange programme. It is expected to entail an investment of Rs 2.15 billion on hybrid annuity model based public-private partnership mode. It also involves construction of two STPs of 30 million litres per day (mld) and 8 mld capacity, one main pumping station (MPS); one lifting station (LS), renovation of two existing MPS at Manirampur and Babanpur, and renovation of two existing LS at Mathpara and Surendranagar, rising mains with operation and maintenance period of 15 years.
